Mwizari came out of the lower pits beneath the The Trophaeum, where the old stone still shows through beneath the neon and advertisement plating. Down there the crowd noise never stops. The screams from the arenas bleed through the walls at all hours. So do the generators. So do the riots.
He and his brother Sirivex fought their way upward through fight circuits, back tunnels, and blood leagues that existed long before the corporations arrived to package violence into a product. Sirivex learned control. Mwizari learned spectacle.
Arena crews hate him. Sponsors hate him. Commentators love him because destruction follows him around like a loyal animal and audiences buy tickets hoping tonight is the night something finally kills him back.
Nobody has managed it yet.The official records list Mwizari as banned from seventeen divisions of the Trophaeum.
Three of those divisions no longer exist.
